12 Tips for Making Your
Article Headlines WORK for You!

by Steve Shaw  |  Published in: Business/ECommerce

Your article marketing success is immensely dependent on the strength of your title. Your headlines lure a reader into reading your article and communicate to publishers and readers what your article is about.

Would you like your articles to be viewed, remembered, republished, and shared?

Follow these 12 tips for creating stellar titles:

1. Craft your title first, then write your article.

Many times the article headline falls by the wayside because it is an afterthought. Spend time creating an effective title on the front end, and then use your title to direct the content of your article.

2. Employ the EzineArticles.com "Title Suggestion Tool" to help you generate a thoughtful keyword rich title.

3. "How To" titles are very popular.

Why? People who are searching for information online are looking for solutions. They are looking for practical information that will make their lives easier.

Write an article that instructs a reader how to do a specific task in your niche.

4. Spend a few minutes doing keyword research before brainstorming headlines.

By crafting your title using wording that people commonly use when they are doing searches online, you help readers find your article.

5. Write a "Steps" or numbered list article, and ensure that your title mentions that your article contains these types of features. For example, this article that you're reading right now contains a numbered list, and the title reflects that. Here are some other ideas:

    - 10 Fun Facts About Beekeeping

    - 15 Energy Conservation Tips Every Kid Should Know

6. Your headline should concisely state what your article is about.

An overly long and confusing title is a turn off for a reader, while an overly short title does not provide enough information to tell the reader what the article is about.

    Too short title: Cars

Better title: How to Find a Safe and Affordable Family Friendly Car

7. Engage your reader by asking a question in your title.

Many times readers will be searching for information online because they have questions that they need answered. Your job as a writer is to create content that answers those questions.

Why not put the reader's question right in the title?

Ideas:
    - Home Schooling: Is It Better To Teach Your Kids At Home?
    - How Can You Find The Best Online Article Submission Services?
    - Want To Get A Deal On Your Next House? Look For A Fixer-Upper

8. Make a personal connection with your reader.

One very easy way to make a personal connection is to use "you" and "your" in your title.

For example:
    - Are You Scared Silly About Doing Website Marketing?
    - Is Your Child Gaining Self-Confidence At School?

Online Article Marketing Resource Box Tactics

by Kenji Sakamoto  |  Published in: Business/ECommerce

Editorial Note: Promotional Link Spam - All Authors Take Note

In the next few weeks we will be reviewing all articles in the GoArticles index to determine which have promotional links. As per our guidelines, promotional links should only appear in your Author Bio paragraph. Articles with an excessive number of links will be flagged and reviewed for promotional spam. We strongly advise you to login to your member account and ensure that your articles are in compliance with our linking guidelines. Non-compliant articles will be removed without further notice.

There is a lot of competition on the internet today as more people begin to use article marketing. This can play to your advantage if you are ready to step up your article marketing efforts.

One of the most important things you must do is incorporate the following tactics when writing your resource box. Do not cut corners when creating a powerful resource box.

1. Your resource box does not need to be long for it to be effective. Just because an article directory allows you a certain number of characters or words does not mean you have to use up all of them. Be conscious about what you are saying in your resource box so it will make an impression on your reader.
2. The article has helped establish your credibility and now your resource box should include your name. Many article directories will not publish copyrighted articles. However they will give you credít for the article in the resource box, therefore you must put your name in it for every article you write.

3. Talk exactly about what you do on the Internet. This is further enhancing your credibility which may help get the click through to your website or blog.

4. Include your website URL in your resource box. Some article directories publish plain text resource boxes, but will include your URL.

Others publish your resource box in HTML format giving you the option to hyperlink your resource box with targeted keyword phrases. This is a good place to vary the keywords you are hyperlinking and make them more relevant to the article.

5. If you are allowed to hyperlink more than one keyword phrase consider hyperlinking back to a sign-up form or splash page. This is a good chance for you to build your mailing list which is a better long term strategy for article marketing.

You can follow up with them in the future when capturing your readers email address and name. If you are just sending them directly to your website, they may forget about who you are in the future.

6. Although you are branding yourself you also want to keep in mind your readers needs and interests. If you can include words that appeal to their emotions you have a better chance of getting the click through to your website.

Follow these online article marketing resource box tactics to improve your website traffic and ultimately build your mailing list as well.

There are many ways to advertise a business today. This is true both online and offline. However many offline businesses as well as online businesses are using article marketing on the Internet to see great results.

Therefore it's important that you know how to write an article to achieve effective article marketing. In this article we will talk about a few tips that will help you do that.

1. Determine what the primary reason is for writing your article. Articles are mainly used for article marketing. However they can also be used to create blog posts, build web pages, publish in an online ezine and so on.

2. Write a catchy title including a keyword phrase you are targeting. This will help catch the attention of both readers and search engines.

To come up with ideas for article titles you can go to online directories and look at existing articles. Titles that catch your attention will probably catch other people's attention as well.

3. Choose a theme for your article that is in demand. Discussion forums are a good resource for possible article themes. Some of the hottest threads in discussion forums can make for very good articles.

4. Keep your articles short and stay on theme. Keep your paragraphs short which makes them easier to read on the Internet. A good way to do this is writing numbered list articles.

5. Include a well-written resource box at the end of the article. It should include your name and a description about yourself or your website.

Your goal is to get the reader to click on a link pointing back to your website or blog. If possible hyperlink keyword phrases as well as list your website URL.

6. Spend an adequate amount of time distributing your article. Getting your article into article directories is important because that's where people will be able to find it.

For this reason you want to be sure and submit it to the top rated article directories. Search engines spider these all the time and your article could be picked up and ranked for a specific keyword phrase.

7. Create a swipe file of well written articles and refer to those for article ideas as well as a reference point on how to write a good article. Swipe files are nothing new but are very easy to fill up thanks to the Internet.

These are several suggestions on writing an article for effective article marketing online. The more articles you have online the more potential traffic they can bring you.

How to Submit Articles: Article Announcement Lists

by Steve Shaw  |  Published in: SubmitYourArticle.com

Editorial Note - Article Videos

We're working hard on providing an article to video conversion service that offers quality video production at a reasonable price point. If you're interested in getting your articles on the major video sites, let us know and we'll contact you as soon as our service launches.

When you're trying to decide how to submit articles, you have three options:

You can submit articles by hand, via article submission software, or by using a web-based article submission service.

Manually submitting articles requires the most work and produces the most modest results, but I know that many people still like to submit manually as a way of getting their feet wet with article marketing.

If you have it in mind to submit articles by hand, then you will want to submit to three main types of publishers:

    • Ezine editors

    • Article announcement lists

    • Article directories

This article specifically deals with how to submit articles to announcement lists.

Article Announcement Lists: What are they?

An article announcement list is type of mailing list that receives free reprint articles.

Mostly these types of mailing lists are composed of online publishers who are interested in finding quality content. Sometimes writers of that content are also on the mailing list.

People who would like to receive articles sign up for the list, and when articles are submitted they receive them via email. The size of article announcement lists varies, but if you submit your article to several of these mailing lists you can potentially reach thousands of publishers.

Article Announcement Lists: The Process

If you would like to submit your article to an article announcement list, you need to subscribe to the list. This means that to send your article to the mailing list, you need to join the mailing list and agree to receive articles from other people.

This is one of the downsides of submitting to these types of lists--you can end up with an avalanche of incoming emails from the list.

Probably the best way to avoid the onslaught of email is to create a special email address that you only use for the announcement lists.

You can use Gmail or Yahoo mail to create a free email address that you use to subscribe to the lists. Just be sure to check your inbox occasionally to be sure that your inbox hasn't reached its capacity.

Another option would be to use an automatic article distribution service. A good article submission service will do the work of submitting to the announcement lists for you, and you won't have to receive any emails from the lists.

Article Announcement Lists: Where are they?

A great place to find article announcement lists is Yahoo Groups. You are looking specifically for lists that are seeking article submissions on your topic. Remember, first you will need to subscribe to the mailing list, then you can submit your articles.

Just to make things easier on you, I've put together a page of article announcement lists here: www.submityourarticle.com/course/announce.php .
