Using Articles to Optimize your Websites

by Sandra Graneau (c) 2010   |  Published in: Business/ECommerce

Not all your content will be accepted by authority sites. In fact, 50 to 75 percent of articles are rejected for a variety of reasons. It can be because your content is low in quality, you stole someone else's article, it's obvious that you're promoting your business or your product, or you failed to follow the guidelines. So if you don't want to find your articles and news releases in the dust bin of the World Wide Web, you should make sure your articles are of great quality and are good enough to be published on the right authority sites.

Some tips you can apply when writing are:

Forget About "Writer's Block," Just Write

If you're always thinking about "writer's block," you'll really find it hard to write just about anything. So eliminate such thoughts and just start writing. Your content doesn't really need to be perfect. Just jot down your thoughts, review, and edit it over and over again. Just do it lightly and naturally.

Make Sure the Content isn't Boring

Any boring write up will either make the readers feel sleepy or make them want to click away from your site. Write from your heart so you'll be able to produce exciting articles. Remember that people always want to relate with real individuals, so be real at all times.

Follow the AIDA Formula

Attention - in the headline or title, state the biggest benefits the readers will get from your content. Make sure the title contains the keyword or keyword phrase you want to optimize your site for.

Interest - the first paragraph of your content must be interesting enough to engage readers. Let them know what's ahead of them and what they'll get by reading the article or news release.

Desire - increase the reader's desire by stating the benefits. Be able to answer this question "What's In It for me?"

Action - at the end of every article, don't forget to place a "Byline" or "Resource Box" that states who you are and what your company or business provides. Remember also to put a link to your site.

Keyword-Optimize Your Links and Articles

All the content or articles you've written must contain keyword-optimized anchor text links that point to your business website. So it's better to spice up your articles with keywords related to the product or service you're selling. At the bottom of the resource box, also put a keyword-optimized anchor text link directed to your site.

Link anchor text coming from authority sites is very much necessary in search engine optimization. This is the word or phrase that appears within the clickable hyperlink to another site.

There are many sites on the net where you can submit your articles, including article directories which accept and publish articles about almost anything. By simply submitting your articles and news releases, you not only get links from them, but your content also has the chance of being published on other sites.
